Car Seat

I love to ride in the car in my car seat (thanks to the Klieman's for that!). Sometimes it makes me so sleepy I don't even wake up when we got to our destination.

Mobile

Alex's parents Kristina and Lynden gave me this cool mobile which hangs over my crib, and I love to stare at it. I could watch that thing forever, its incredible. And this is just one of my three mobiles!

Grandparents

OK, so I know a lot of you are wondering what I've been up to and why its been so long since the last update here in "Riley's World." Well, I have to tell you, its been really busy around here. I've had my Australian grandparents visiting, and also my American granparents visiting. I'm loving hanging out with my grandparents. But its the more mundane things that sometimes get me down. Every day I have to get up, eat, burp, poop, and by then I'm starting to get sleepy, so I go down for a bit of a nap, and before I know it my tummy is rumbling, and its time to get up and do it all over again. This pattern seems to rule my life these days, and I'm finding it hard to break out of it. I mean, I think I'm seriously addicted to breatmilk. They say it can happen with us young ones.

Anyway, its nice to now be able to count my age in weeks, and not days anymore. I think I'm three and a half weeks now, almost four. Four weeks means time to go back and see Dr Nikki. for some shots - I can't wait for that.

I have to tell you, I forgot to mention previously that my umbilical cord has now dropped off. Yeeha!!, I hated that thing, it interfered with my diaper. And the good news now is that I can take a real bath. A few days ago I got a massage right before the bath, and I found that I really enjoyed the bath a lot more with a bit of a massage beforehand. My parents have been taking some classes, so they can learn how to give me these massages. They still have lots to learn about that, but they're not too bad.

This week I had my first trip out of Redwood City. We went to San Francisco, so we could take some cute photos with all the grandparents. Photos are so overrated. I didn't even bother to look at the camera, I pretended to be asleep. Check it out, you can see the photos below, and that's all for today, but check back soon and I'll write some more.

Another day in paradise

Finally got out of the house again today. Walked around the block with my grandparents. Later Uncle Paul cooked dinner for everyone, then I crashed out on dad's tummy.

Today was my first trip to the doctor. Dr Niki listened to my heart and checked my weight, height and breathing. She said I was in excellent health, and I gained 8 ounces in the last 5 days, pretty good going, she said. I'm already back to my birthweight of 9 Lbs.

We also took some family photos with my Uncle Tony and my Grandparents.

My First Day Out

Yesterday was my first real outing from home. We went to a free concert in the park just down the street. My Grandpa and Grandma from Australia are here for three weeks, from Australia, and Uncle Tony is still here too. Tony carried me in a sling so I was comfortable.

When was I born?
I was born on Wednesday 29th of June, 2005

How heavy was I when I was born?
Well, I'm not sure why everyone asks this question, but I was exactly 9 pounds and 0 ounces, or 4.08 Kg.

How long was I when I was born?
I was 20 inches (exactly) long. This is also 50.8 cm for any Aussies reading this.

Why was I born by C-section?
Well, after quite a long time of trying to come out the normal way, it turned out that I was a "breach baby", meaning I was facing the wrong way around. That would have been very hard on mommy, so they decided to make it easier on her by doing a C section. She was just very happy that it all worked out well.

What am I like, personality-wise?
Well, I'm only 4 and a half days old, so its hard to say. By people say that I'm a mellow guy. I don't scream a lot, except if I get really frustrated with something. But most of the time I'm pretty quiet. I like to look around at things, because I'm kind of curious about my new surroundings. I'm definitely a good eater (like my dad) and I sleep well too when I've had a good meal (like my dad). But like I said, its early days. I'm still deciding if I will be a terror or a dream for my parents. In a few weeks I will make some decisions about that, but for now I'm just checking them out and getting to know them.
