bike ride

Today we went for a great bike ride near a beautiful reservoir not far from our house. The water you see is the drinking water supply for San Francisco and it is piped here all the way from Yosemite.

Usually on Thursdays we go for a hike, but since I am currently sick with both an ear infection as well as "hand-foot-and-mouth" disease.... my Dad took it easy on me and let me of with just a bike ride instead of a hike.

Last weekend we had a great party for my cousin Julia's birthday. We had a yummy pancake breakfast. Here are some photos:

and yet another hike

My dad seems to have some kind of hiking fever, he's crazy. He wants to go all the time. I dont mind, because I like going for a ride in the backpack. This time we drove 15 minutes in the car, and then hiked uphill into a fantastic Redwood forest. It felt like we were a million miles from home.

We saw lots fo birds, including a woodpecker like this one (this isn't our photo - my dad was too slow with the camera to get a picture).



Also there were some deer on the trail.



I saw this great banana slug. It was slimy, and I will remember it next time I am eating my banana at breakfast!



We only saw one other person on the hike, but my dad didnt take a photo of him.

And of course, lots of fantastic redwood trees.

Today I did a great hike with my Dad, and it was right here in our town, not far from where we live. The first photo is looking out over our town. We're so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

Last weekend we went back to Lake Tahoe with my friend Alexandre and his family. You may remember the last time we were there we went skiing, as shown in this video.

This time we went sledding and also for a hike in the snow. It was beautiful weather, but I didnt like being in the snow very much. It was OK when I was up high in the backpack. Take a look at some photos:
